Q What does the theory test consist of?
A The motorcycle theory test consists of 35 multiple choice questions and 14 short video clips (known as the Hazard Perception part of the test).

Q Do I need to do a theory test?
A You will need to take a theory test if you want a licence for a new category of licence, for example, you have a car licence and want a motorcycle licence.
 
Q What scores do I need to obtain to pass the theory test?
A You need to pass 30 out of 35 for the multiple choice questions and a score of 44 out of 75 for the hazard perception.

Q How much is the theory test?
A The theory test is £21.50. At the time of booking you will need your driving licence number and a credit or debit card.
 

Q How can I book my theory test?
A You can book your theory test one of 4 ways:

  3. By post - application form available from the Driving Test centre or on-line.
  4. At Surepass - we will be happy to book your theory test for you.

Q How can I revise for the theory test?
A The Surepass website has on-line theory test revision. This is located in the Training Resources section of the site. Your scores will be calculated at the end of each test. We also have an extensive lending library at the Training School. You can borrow, free of charge*, videos, books, DVD's and CD Roms to help you revise in the comfort of your own home.

* We require a refundable £20 deposit when borrowing any theory test revision.

 
Q What do I need to take with me on the day of the test?
A You will need to take both parts of your valid driving licence (photo card and paper counter part). If you have an old style paper licence you will also need a suitable form of photographic identification, i.e. passport. If you forget to take the required documentation you will not be able to complete the test and you will lose your test fee.

Q I have difficulty reading and writing, will this affect me?
A No - at the time of booking you will be asked if you require any assistance at the time of your theory test. Please do not be embarrassed. A DSA employee will be on hand during your test if you require assistance. You can request double the time allowed if necessary. There is no extra fee for this facility. If you require help in booking your test please contact Surepass.
