WELCOME TO SUREPASS DRIVER TRAINING

Two wheels or four?  Whatever your preference the team at Surepass have got it covered.  With Surepass Rider Training handling the bike side of things, if you prefer the four wheel option then Surepass Driver Training is for you. We have both Male and Female Instructors available.

The Westpoint Experience is a unique opportunity for 16 year olds to get behind the wheel for the first time and to drive in a controlled, safe and fun area designed and operated by Devon Drivers Centre in Exeter.

Based at the famous Westpoint Arena, it is a purpose built practice road network intending to reduce the initial stress of learning to drive. As it is off-road no licence is required and of course the student will be under the instructors control at all times in his normal tuition vehicle. Because the day is more relaxed we have found that the day counts for around 10 hours on-road and upon starting their normal lessons at 17 they advance far more quickly.

The circuit consists of;

Full 7.3 metre roads

Reversing bays

Gradients for hill starts and clutch control

Traffic light controlled junctions

Pelican and Zebra crossings

Mini roundabout

Stop and give way lines

No kerbs

The centre is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm.  The day starts with an 8am pickup and a quick pitstop at the Happy Chef for breakfast, paid for by Surepass.   We arrive at Westpoint before 9.30am to start the day. We stop for lunch before returning for the second session. We normally leave around 4.30pm and arrive back in Plymouth around 5.30pm

If you need to book for more than one pupil then other Instructors are used, so that each student has their own vehicle for the day. Of course if you want all this to be a surprise for Christmas or even a Birthday present, then let us know in advance and gift vouchers can be provided.

All instructors are fully qualified, approved by the DRIVING STANDARDS AGENCY and CRB checked.

STUCK FOR GIFT IDEAS?
You can buy vouchers for all driving lessons at Surepass and you can even combine the driving tuition with the motorcycle tuition.  Why not buy your 16 year old a "dual" voucher for a day driving a car in Exeter and a day on a motorcycle where he or she will complete the CBT* (Compulsory Basic Training) course.  The CBT course will enable the rider to ride up to a 125cc (50cc max @ 16 years) for two years.

WANT A FULL DRIVERS LICENCE?
For those students 17 years and above who are eligible for a provisional UK Driving Licence the rates for learning to drive at Surepass are extremely competitive at just £18 per hour (two hour minimum lessons).  For a more competitive rate why not make a block booking of driving lessons where discount is offered, (10 hours minimum to obtain discount).

DISABLED AND WANT TO LEARN TO DRIVE?
With Surepass Rider Training being a member of the NABD (National Association of Bikers with Disabilities), Surepass Driving Instructors were keen for the same consideration towards the disabled to be offered to it's driver training students.  Surepass Instructor, Steve Brown, has been trained at QUEEN ELIZABETHS mobility centre in Banstead to assess and give tuition to disabled pupils. If you are in receipt of full Incapacity Benefit then give Surepass a call and Steve will come out to you for a FREE assessment. If Steve considers your disability is too severe for his car to handle without major improvements then Steve will refer you to CORNWALL MOBILITY CENTRE for a full physical assessment with their highly trained Instructors and suitable vehicles.  Did you know if you are in receipt of full incapacity benefit you can apply for your driving licence at 16 years old?

SKID   AWARENESS
This course is for qualified drivers only and consists of a 1 ½ hour course with professional tutors at the WestPoint site in Exeter. It will provide you with the skill and knowledge to avoid a skid in adverse weather conditions or maybe if you have a tyre blowout. Skidding can be a traumatic experience but after this course you will have the confidence to cope with the situation. At the end of the course you will be given a certificate, and if you want to go further then the "Advanced" course may be the one for you. This involves taking the car out onto the road circuit under the instruction of a Police Class one driver.

These courses would be useful if you are an employer who wants to protect his drivers and vehicles, or a club organizer who wants to offer more.

ADVANCED TRAINING
Most drivers who have been driving for a while have picked up some habits that may be detrimental without them actually realising it. The Surepass Advanced course is designed not only to rid the drivers of these habits but to bring their driving up to more modern requirements.  Drivers also have the option of continuing on to the ROSPA driving test.
